Dr. Muhammad Badawi for his translation of Clifford Geertz’s The Interpretation of Cultures (1973) in which he discusses the issue of culture and tradition from the point of view of symbolic anthropology or interpretation based on speculating on culture and studying it as an independent body. The book is considered a basic reference for anthropologists. Hence, its translation occupies a top priority topic with which the translator coped. The translation is accurate and honest to the original text. It maintains the contents of the original work and attempts to transmit its terms and phrases clearly. This translation contributed a new value to the Arabic library as related to anthropology which stresses the interaction and communication among cultures to establish dialogues among its different nations.
