  • Kalima Project for Translation
  •  The Translation Award for Institutions is awarded to Kalima Project for Translation, a project of Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage in United Arab Emirates. Kalima Project for Translation, “Kalima” was founded in late 2007. It is distinguished by its prolific output, publishing more than 500 titles translated from different languages including French; English; German; Hindi; Italian; Spanish; Japanese; Chinese; Russian; Korean; Kurdish; and Dutch. The translated works were also diverse from different fields of knowledge, among them were natural science; social science; education; applied science; philosophy; religions; arts; literature; psychology; history; and geography. The translated works of Kalima were generally characterized by good quality of the translated texts, clear of meaning, and the appropriateness of procedures in which all suggested topics for translation are reviewed and scrutinized by specialized committees. Kalima also respects intellectual property laws and recognizes the copyright of authors and publishers. In addition, Kalima is interested in having partnership and strategic alliances with translation organizations around the world. Today, Kalima has seven international agreements with different translation and publishing organizations worldwide. These organizations include Carlo Alfonso Nallino Institute for the Orient “L’Istituto per l’Oriente”, the oldest specialized institute for research into the affairs of the Arab and Islamic world in Rome, Italy; India -Arab Cultural Centre in the National Islamic University “Jamia Millia Islamia” in New Delhi, India; Ohannes Gutenberg University Mainz “Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz” in Germany; The Dutch Foundation For Literature “Nederlands Letterenfonds” in Netherlands; Swiss Arts Council “Prohelvetia” in Switzerland; Yuan Media, South Korea; and an agreement with the French Institute. Kalima has launched Josoor “Bridges” initiative in 2010 to financially and morally support Arab publishers to translate genuine works into Arabic
